Road paving work in Warwick will result in bus detours, the Department of Transport announced.

Work on Middle Road, near Burnt House Hill, started yesterday.

A government spokeswoman explained: “All westbound Route 8 buses will now detour left at the Paget stop lights to South Road and rejoin their regular route at Barnes Corner.

“Eastbound Route 8 buses will follow the same detour in reverse.”

She said: “Beginning January 15, the detour will start at approximately 7.30am each day and remain in effect until the road is reopened each evening.”

The spokeswoman added that during the road closures, shuttle buses will run on either side of the affected area to ensure continuous service to Middle Road and Cedar Hill.

The eastern shuttle loop will run from the bus stop east of White Sands Road in Paget through Middle Road, then right on Longford Road, right on St Mary’s Road, Cedar Hill, and right on Middle Road, Warwick, turning around at the old TN Tatem Middle School before reversing the route.

The western shuttle loop will run from Barnes Corner through Middle Road, turning around just east of Burnt House Hill to reverse the loop.

Each loop is expected to take about 15 minutes.
