Details on separate crashes in Southampton, Pembroke
A single-vehicle crash last Thursday which heavily damaged a bus shelter on Middle Road, Southampton may have been caused by a medical incident, police said.
The driver of the van was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries and discharged.
The vehicle struck the shelter at about 3.10pm near the junction with Granaway Lane.
Police said the van was being driven east when it hit the structure on the opposite side of the road.
A spokesman added: “It is believed that the driver, understood to be a 61-year-old Paget man, had a medical episode just prior to the collision.”
Traffic was disrupted for an hour until the damaged van was towed away.
Police also confirmed that two men, both 22, received non-life threatening injuries when the motorcycle they were riding was involved in a collision with a car, with both vehicles damaged, on January 13.
It happened at 4.35pm on the roundabout at the junction of Woodlands Road, Serpentine Road and Par-la-Ville Road in Pembroke.
The rider came onto the roundabout from Woodlands Road while the car entered from Serpentine Road.
The driver, from Sandys, and the passenger, from Pembroke, were both injured, while the driver of the car, believed to be a 40-year-old Warwick man, was not hurt.
