Island-based company BermudAir is to double the size of its fleet with the acquisition of two more passenger jets in the coming months.

The delivery of a pair of Embraer 190AR-E1 aircraft will enable the Bermudian-owned airline to offer flights to three more US East Coast destinations — Hartford, in Connecticut, Charleston, in South Carolina, and Raleigh-Durham, in North Carolina.

BermudAir, which took off in September 2023, already offers services to New York, Florida, Baltimore and Toronto, Canada.

Adam Scott, its founder and chief executive, said: "After just one year of establishing BermudAir, we are thrilled to take this next step in our journey.

“Adding these two Embraer 190 aircraft will allow us to grow thoughtfully while ensuring we maintain the high standards of reliability and service our customers have come to expect.

“This expansion will support our efforts to stabilise operations, create new opportunities for travel and enhance the experience for everyone who flies BermudAir.

“These new aircraft underscore BermudAir’s dedication to operational excellence with the third aircraft to be operated as a dedicated spare and on-demand charter aircraft, while the fourth will enable BermudAir to increase frequencies to existing markets and to expand into additional markets.”

He added: "Knowing when to grow and how to do so responsibly is critical to ensuring long-term success.

“This expansion reflects our commitment to meeting the needs of our customers while continuing to deliver the reliable and exceptional service BermudAir is known for."
