TCD simplifies truck replacement process
The Transport Control Department has announced the introduction of a streamlined process for replacing old trucks.
A spokeswoman for the department said the new system, based on feedback received during the Red Tape Reduction Consultation, aims to improve accessibility and ensure faster, more efficient handling of requests.
The replacement of trucks now requires the submission of a letter of request. The letter should include the specifications for the new vehicle, and a photograph or brochure must be submitted to the department’s senior examiner for processing.
Should the new truck model maintain the same specifications as the old one, the existing registration number will remain unchanged.
If the new model differs in size, a new number will be issued in accordance with the truck category.
Wayne Furbert, the Minister of Transport, said: “Last year, our Red Tape Reduction Consultation process provided us with valuable feedback from the community about which regulations could be reduced, streamlined or made more efficient.
“We carefully considered this feedback, which has helped us improve the process of truck replacement, and we will continuously review our processes to ensure they are both effective and responsive to the needs of our customers.”
The Government launched the consultation process last March, recognising the need to deliver more efficient services to the taxpayer.
