Race to affect traffic in St David’s on Sunday
A bicycle race will affect traffic in St David’s tomorrow, the Ministry of Public Works and Environment said.
The ministry said the Bermuda Bicycle Association VT Construction team time-trial will start and finish at the Clearwater car park.
Riders will move off at 7.30am and the race is expected to conclude by 9am.
Participants will exit the car park and head north to Cooper’s Island, then to the roundabout and take the first exit on to Southside Road.
They will then traverse the roundabout, take the third exit on to Lower Gates Road and head left on to St David's Road to the Swing Bridge roundabout.
After exiting on to Kindley Field Road, they will ride to the roundabout at the airport, head to the Causeway, up to Blue Hole Hill and make a U-turn at the Blue Hole Hill roundabout and head back to the Swing Bridge roundabout.
After exiting on to St David's Road, they will continue and turn right on to Pepper Hall Road, make another right on to Tommy Fox Road and back to Pepper Hall Road before heading to the roundabout.
After the roundabout, the participants will exit on to Cooper's Island Road and head to the finish line at the Clearwater car park.
Police were authorised to close off streets or portions of streets and authorise parking as the Commissioner of Police decides.
Motorists were asked to follow instructions given by marshals who will direct traffic.
They were also urged to exercise caution and avoid collisions with the race participants.
The ministry encouraged the full co-operation of the public and apologised for any inconvenience.
