Paving works to continue through July

Roadworks and a 5K event will affect traffic throughout the island starting this weekend, the Ministry of Public Works has announced.

A spokesman said Morgan’s Road, and Harbour Road between Morgan’s Road and Tamarind Vale, will be closed to traffic on Sunday for the Warwick Academy 5K Fun Walk and Run.

Drivers should detour via Middle, Keith Hall and Longford roads from 8.30am to 11am.

School representatives will manage traffic, with only emergency vehicles and residents permitted access.

Roadworks between Tribe Road No 5 and Evans Bay Road in Southampton should be completed by Wednesday, with work on weekdays from 7.30am to possibly 6pm.

Lantana Road and part of Somerset Road will be reduced to one lane of traffic starting on May 1 as the ministry carries out road repairs.

Work will be done on weekdays between 7.30am and 4pm, and is expected to be completed by May 7.

Paving will also take place in St George’s, on Mullet Bay Road from York Street to Ferry Road, between May 12 and July 11.

Work will be done from 7.30am to possibly 6pm and sequential lane closures will take place.

Questions about the work in Sandys, Southampton and St George’s should be directed to principal highways engineer Tina Beer-Searle on 504-3044, while Jill Finnigan can be contacted on 236-1917 regarding the Sunday event.
