Fiona puts Irie FM off the air

Damaged equipment after a lightning strike and power cut at the Irie FM studio during Hurricane Fiona has prevented the radio station from broadcasting on the airwaves since Friday.

But the reggae music hub can still be found through live stream services.

A spokesman explained: “Following a lightning strike and power outage at the studio in Happy Valley in the early hours of Friday morning during the storm, broadcast equipment was damaged and subsequently the station has not come back on the air.

“We are working diligently to repair the networks and get the signal back on air as soon as possible.

“The station is, however, live streaming on the various online mobile services such as TuneIn.com and mobile apps such as TuneIn and Radio FM.

“The links for streaming can also be found on the station website www.Irie.bm.

“Thank you for your continued support.”
