Power outages after Hurricane Fiona now stands at 52
Fifty-two properties were still without electricity today, Belco said, as crews worked to restore power across the island.
An update on Twitter at noon today listed 52 outages related to Hurricane Fiona, which passed the island last Friday.
A safety message from Belco said: “If you have power in one half of your house, this is called a partial power outage.
“This means you have only one phase of electricity available; therefore, one half of your house is being powered.”
It added: “If you are experiencing this, you should unplug all sensitive equipment and turn off all fuses in the breaker box.”
More than 29,000 customers were in the dark at the height of outages at about noon on Friday.
The power cuts came as Bermuda was hit with high winds but avoided the worst of the Category 4 hurricane.
Gusts of up to 113mph were recorded in the West End at the height of the storm, which came closest to the island at about 5am on Friday.
Despite dropping to a Category 3 hurricane, tropical storm force winds continued to hit Bermuda for some hours.
