A promising start

I felt nervous after waking up on the morning of September 8, 2010. Dellwood was a new start for me. I asked my daddy to take me because I didn’t want to go to school by myself on the first day, especially since it was a new school. It gave me comfort to know that he was there with me. When I arrived at school, I stood at the gate and noticed that some of the boys were riding their bikes and chatting with friends. Then I looked around and saw all my friends running towards me and shouting out my name. I was so excited to see them, especially since I hadn’t seen most of them during the summer break. We all stood around showing off our new shoes, bags and hairstyles. We all looked smart and were ready for what Dellwood had in store for us. The school bell rang and it was time to start our day. I was worried that I wouldn’t be in the same class as my friends, but then I met a new friend, whom I found something in common with. I found out that her name was named Dazha. It was weird at first, because I was used to hearing my friends call me that as well. Throughout the day I made so many new friends. My first day was going good so far.I got my official schedule and I saw that I had two different classes that I hadn’t taken before. One of them was Spanish. I was so excited about learning Spanish because I had never learnt a different language before. The second class was Design and Technology. This class sounded more familiar to me. I had attended a tour of Dellwood Middle School the year before, where I learnt a little about what the students do in this particular class. We were going to learn how to make things out of wood. English is my favourite subject because I love to read and write. So far, Dellwood has been great. I’ve been having a few problems in Math, learning about long division. It is a little complicated for me but with a little help I’ll be sure to get it down soon. Having good grades has always been something I’m good at, but I’ve always had a problem with being very outspoken. This has caused me to get in trouble a few times. I’m promising myself that I’m going to change that and my attitude. I’m a good student so I don’t want my attitude to affect my grades.Dellwood is a new experience for me and I’m glad I’m at this school. I’m also very excited to see what the teachers have planned for me and my peers this year.
