Chemistry just right for science fair

Mount Saint Agnes Academy student body finished their 2001 Science Fair and packed away hundreds of experiments that were showcased in the school courtyard.

A school spokesperson said the annual event, held every year, was the best she had seen in her time at the school and every students effort made them a winner.

Results from the Science Fair are: Integrated Science First place went to David Amaro and Michael Sinclair for their `How Do You Spell Relief' experiment & Acaia Trott and Tiffany Neimes for their `How Many Licks' experiment.

Second place; Joshua Emmerson for his `Gone With the Wind' experiment.

Third place; Sarah Fletcher and Christina F. for `Is Organic or Man-Made Feed Better?'; Mark Fox and Chris Every for `The Balloon that can go the Distance'; Brianna Croucher and Eileen Walsh for `Battery Power'.

Honourable mentions for Cassie Andrade and Krystle Caldwell for the `Watchin'em Grow' experiment; Jennifer Perreira and Maria DeBraga for the `Copper Cleanliness' experiment; Meghan Tatem and Haley Benevides for the `Fish-a-Licious' experiment.

Environmental Science First place went to Stephanie Rodill and Kerri-Lynn for `Dietz for Seismograph' experiment.

Second place; Chantal Brine and Nicola Arnold for `IC Vitamin' experiment.

Third place; Julia Gibson and Sabrina Cyrus for `H2O Cleaniness' experiment.

Honourable mention; Jon Armstrong and Jordan Benevides for `Breakfast' experiment.

Physics Honorary mentions; to Danny Wicks for `Duckin' Breeze'; Hailey Benevides, Victoria Amaral, Jennifer Roberts, Heidi Bapiste, Sarah Lusher for `Do You Ear What I Hear'; Lacey Dobson for `Forever On The Go'.

Human Biology Third place; Cullen O'Hara and John Kershaw for `Running Low on Sugar' experiment; Lyndsay Terceira for `Colour Blindness, A Disease that Discriminates', experiment; Veronica DaCosta and Nea Richardson for `Herbal Life' experiment.

Chemistry First place went to Nicole Lopes and Tara Pantry for `Bon-A-Fide Egg-speriments' experiment; Chris Rodrigues and Andy Schwagerl for the `Pitter...Patter...Is Acid the Matter' experiment; DeAnna Kierman and Meredith Lombardo for `Sweet Poison' experiment; Lacy Jennings and Jacquelyn MrRonald for `Plop! Plop! Fizz! Fizz! Oh what a relief' it is experiment; Lindsay Botelho and Sean Kelly for `As the Stomach Turns' experiment.

Second place; Jennifer McCall-Daniels and Michelle Outerbridge for `Crackin' Down on the Choppers' experiment; Lexi Tatem and Nick Taylor for `Futuristic Fuel'; Krystle Rodrigues and Holly Suarez for `Hair Secrets: What Does your Hair Reveal?'.

Honourable mentions; Rafael Fuentes and Ruben Moniz for `Not Always Coca-Cola' experiment; Jeremy Benevides and Mark Pacheco for `Burn Baby Burn' experiment.

General Biology First place went to Daniel Rance for `The Best Household Liquid for Growing Plants' experiment.

Second place; Shelby Rodrigues for `What is the Best Environment for Gold Fish'; Tyler Barker and Steven Roy for `We Just Keep on Sweating' experiment; Alicia Amaral and Bonnie Gjerswold for `Getting Giggy with It' experiment; Lindsay Sousa and Jacqueline Faries for `What a Shocker' experiment; Tiffany Faries and Sophia Medeiros for `Rodent Rations'.

Third place; Mikia McGowan and Candace Smith for `Orange, you Growing'; Tanisha Powell and Sasha Hall for `What You Produce, When you Reproduce'.

Honourable mentions; Adrie Jones and Susanna Merio for `The Effects of Different Kinds of Music on Siamese Fighting Fish's Mood and Colour' experiment; Jason Bento for `Mold Making Factory'; Laura Sousa and Jason Peniston for `Do We Sprout' experiment.
