Fun ways to spend those long hot summer days

Aquarium, Museum and Zoo thanks to a slate of programmes being run by the Bermuda Zoological Society (BZS).

Middle school age children can enjoy a snorkel tour of Harrington Sound on June 17 with Holly Holder of the Society's education team.

Between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., children between ten and 13-years-old are invited to bring a snorkel and mask to explore the Sound. Registration is at the Aquarium's front desk and costs $10 for members and $12 for non-members.

June 24 will be a special day when `Something Fishy', a fun and factual presentation by the education team, will be given between 9.30 a.m. and 11.30 a.m.

June 25 will see a walking tour of Hungry Bay, Paget, conducted by Heather DeSilva, a member of the Society's Biodiversity Project Team.

The walk will take place between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. and is open to both adults and children.

Admission for Something Fishy and the Hungry Bay Walking tour is $7.50 for members and $10 for non-members.

Throughout the summer the Aquarium will also offer the opportunity to get involved with the opening of the new Caribbean Exhibit. In a scheme entitled "Growing a Caribbean Jungle'', participants can purchase a replica animal which will bear their name in a special painted jungle. People who join the BZS this summer will also be able to take part in a draw for two round trip tickets to any Caribbean destination that American Airlines serves.

The draw will be held after September 30. The membership drive is sponsored by American Airlines while the Caribbean Exhibit is being funded by members and donors as well as major sponsorship from the Centennial Trust of the Bank of Bermuda.
