higher education from a Regiment officer's fund this summer.

Corporal Janeek Providence will be awarded $1,500 from the Aide-de-Camp scholarship -- money derived from former Aide-de-Camps who allocate the funds to a selection committee which then chooses decorated soldiers seeking a college education.

"Servicewoman Providence, 19, has been a member of Bermuda Regiment Band and Corps of Drums for five years. During that time she has excelled academically, athletically and socially.'' a Regiment spokesperson said.

Corporal Providence graduated from Bermuda College in June with an Associate Degree in Art and Business Administration and has flown to the United States to attend Florida International University to major in Accounting.

A graduate of Berkeley Institute, Janeek was the captain of the basketball team that won the inter-school basketball title.

She was also decorated in 1998 for `Most Immaculately Dressed Soldier'.
