Kenneth Caesar is an ambitious young man who likes helping the people in his community.
He is a member of the Youth Parliament and Youth to Youth, and is on the awards and banquet committee of Teen Services. He joined these organisations because he says he feels the community does so much for him that he needs to give something back. He also likes to know what is going on around him.
Kenneth, who describes himself as being ambitious, responsible and positive, wants to become a clinical psychologist. He believes there is a need for more clinical psychologists in Bermuda.
The Sandys Secondary School head boy, whose favourite subjects are computers and civics, says he believes that society's main problems are violence, drugs and teen pregnancy.
To solve the violence problem he says he would have black mentors for young black children. To help cut down on the drug trade, he says he would enforce stricter laws so that it would be harder to bring drugs into the island. And to diminish teen pregnancy, Kenneth says he would have more sex education classes in schools which would show teens about the consequences of having a baby.
If the violence continues, the 17-year-old says he can see Bermuda becoming like a third world country within the next 15 years.
One wish that Kenneth has is that violence would stop.
A multi-complex centre is what Kenneth says he would like the Government to build for the youth. This centre would have a basketball court, counselling sessions, educational activities and a soccer field.
The fifth-year student enjoys reading, eating chicken, watching television and listening to rap. His favourite rap group is Bone Thugs and Harmony and his favourite television show is Fresh Prince.
He has a twin brother Keith, an older brother Vaughn, and two older sisters Brenda and Barbara.
The person that Kenneth would most like to meet is Maya Angelou.
"She is a true black woman,'' he says. "I like the way she reads poetry with such great feeling and determination.'' If he were given an open plane ticket to anywhere in the world, Kenneth said he would go to Africa.
"This would give me an opportunity to see where I came from and learn about my heritage,'' he says. "I would like to see what the mother country is like.'' INTERVIEW BY KRISTY WARREN KENNETH CAESAR
