Bermuda College director of international languages, Riquette Bonne-Smith said Phillip Ingham and Arlenda Fishendon were chosen because of their talent and promise.

They leave for Paris on Thursday, and are expected to remain there for a month long study abroad programme.

"These are students who have serious interest in the language,'' she said.

"We have established a programme so they can have a more intensive continuation of their studies.'' Mrs. Smith added that they will be staying with French families and attending classes every day at the Alliance Francaise School in Paris.

Mrs. Smith noted, however, that the students would also have the opportunity to experience the culture and unique history of France.

"It's all apart of their learning experience,'' she said. "They will have an opportunity to do some sightseeing.'' Ms. Fishendon, who is a second year Business major at Bermuda College, said she is eagerly looking forward to the trip and hopes to use the language in the international business sector.

"I've heard a lot of nice things about France,'' she said. "I can't wait to see the Eiffel Tower.'' Mrs. Smith added: "It will be an excellent enrichment opportunity for them, and we want to wish them luck.'' French leave: Riquette Bonne-Smith and Arlenda Fishendon
