Saltus Grammar to celebrate `richness' of learning from one Millennium to
Saltus Grammar students will be celebrating the "richness of teaching and learning'' in the new Millennium.
Director of Development Daniel Blagg said: "Drama, music and art are the mediums to be utilised by Saltus students in a free, two-day festival for January 27 and 28 which, according to senior school head Paul A. Langman, is to celebrate the richness of teaching and learning as one Millennium ends and another begins.'' The festival is to be held at the Senior Hall at Saltus Grammar School on St.
John's Road, Pembroke on January 27 and 28, starting at 2 p.m.
The featured attraction will be three short performances given by the students themselves.
First, a "Children's Theatre'' theme which will be performed by the Senior Four students.
Next, festival attendees will be treated to a "Political Promenade'' by SGY students.
"Teenage angst'', written and performed by Senior Five students, will round out the dramatic performances.
There will be three dramatic presentations to be staged by students displaying their talents in the Senior Graduate Year (SGY) courses or toward their British General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) drama exams.
During intervals between sketches some of the best of Saltus' musical performers will display their talents.
Attendees will also be invited to view a number of art and design exhibits.
The school's two Young Enterprise Groups will be exhibiting their lines of business products and refreshments at the half-French, half-Spanish street cafe managed and operated by the Foreign Languages Department.
Attendees will get a taste of technology with laptop-controlled technology and scientific experimentation.
A re-enactment of the significant events in the life of Christopher Columbus will be performed by student members of the History Club.
The programme will also be repeated Friday at 7 p.m. for those who could not make the earlier show.
The festival is open to all parents of students and to interested members of the public.
