Student thespians bring a sci-fi edge to summer stage production

By Jarion Richardson Two warring factions will do battle over a time machine when the `AH!TEMPO' performing summer arts camp takes to the stage at City Hall July 25 and 26.

55 children of the `AH!TEMPO' camp -- ages 10 to 15 years -- will hit the stage in `Serenity's Last Stand', a story inspired by the Serenity prayer.

The camp has been performing at City Hall for five years, with plays such `Hail to the Olympics' and `Generation Next', facing moral situations while learning the about finer points of humanity and morality.

`AH!TEMPO' summer camp runs for three weeks in July, throughout which the children are taking classes in choreography, drama, singing, and set construction.

"They are involved in all matters of production.'' said instructor Cathy DeCouto.

The show will be on Wednesday July 25, and Thursday July, 26 at 7.30 p.m., with tickets available from United Dance Productions and City Hall.

`AH!TEMPO' also has a matinee showing on Thursday July 26, with tickets $3 for summer camp students and $20 for the evening shows.
