An athlete's insight
We have many good athletes at T.N.T. They did really well at the interschool sports competition at the National Stadium on April 22. One athlete is Sokoni Whitter. Sakoni is an M3 student. Our Imani Wedderburn talked to Sokoni about his running achievements.
Imani: At interschool sports which race was the biggest for you?
Sokoni: 400 metres
Imani: Why?
Sokoni: Because I came second in qualifying and so I had a target.
Imani: What happened?
Sokoni: I jogged half way, then when I got to the high jump pit, I bursted off. I ended up coming first.
Imani: How did it feel?
Sokoni: Pretty good.
Imani: Was it your best time?
Sokoni: No, I've done better.
Imani: What do you do to train?
Sokoni: I do strides, high knees, high walls.
Imani: Team trained?
Sokoni: No.
Imani: Your brother runs too, right?
Sokoni: Yes.
Imani: What do you think about him?
Sokoni: He's pretty good too.
Imani: Do you think he could be as good as you?
Sokoni: Some day, with a lot of work.
Imani: Will you continue to run when you go to high school?
Sokoni: Yes.
Imani: What about the H.S competition?
Sokoni: I'm not really worried. It'll be the same people I race against here.
Imani: Any advice for people who think they can't run?
Sokoni: Just train and you'll improve.
Imani: Thanks, Sokoni and good luck in your running future.
