Eagles prove they have the winning formula
The Elliot Girls Football Team, the Eagles, were the BSSF 2009 Knock Out Cup Champions, defeating West End Primary 2-1 on Saturday, November 28 at the National Sports Centre. The game was very exciting. Both teams played hard to the end.
West End Primary scored the first goal and then Tazna' Fubler scored for Elliot. We were tied for the longest time, and it seemed we would have to go into penalties like we did in the six-a-side tournament at Shelly Bay. But just before the final whistle I scored the winning goal to make Elliot Girls' football team the champions. My parents, Mrs. Cathy Bassett (Principal), Miss Shaevon Simmons (P.E. Teacher) and Mrs. Denise Ward (Elliot Girls Football Coach) cheered for us. We won and are the Island Champion Girls Soccer Team.
We were also the Champions in the seven-aside round robin tournament held at Shelly Bay in October defeating West End in penalty shots. I scored the winning penalty goal.
The greatest honour was when I was selected to represent the East in the All Stars on December 5, and the Eastern Stars came out on top beating the West three goals to one. Elliot Primary Girls Team and I had a great season.
