A love of literary things may bring them together, but members of the Teen Advisory Board of the youth library don't stay stuck with their noses in a book.

On February 24 this year, they held a Senior Citizens' Tea to raise funds for the Bermuda Red Cross and the Haiti Earthquake Relief fund.

Tea was served to approximately 35 seniors at the at St. Paul's Christian Education Centre, Paget from 2 to 4 p.m.

While enjoying their tea, the guests were entertained by Ranan Burch and his band and the members of Chewstick with poetry and song. Advisor Marla Smith, Youth Services Librarian of the Bermuda National Library, noted, "The seniors thoroughly enjoyed the music, sometimes singing along with the band."

A raffle was held at the end of the tea for two shopping certificates to the MarketPlace. A total of $300 was raised, and handed over recently to Mrs. Ann Spencer-Arscott of the Bermuda Red Cross.

The Teen Advisory Board, for students 14 to 18 years of age meets weekly at the Youth Services Division of the Bermuda National Library on Church Street, on Wednesdays from 4 to 5 p.m.
