Fashion-savvy students put on quite a show

Fasion fusion: Stacy Lee Smith models her own creation in the Senior 4 fashion show at CedarBridge Academy

On April 20 and 21, CedarBridge Academy’s S4 students put on what might be called a “fashion extravaganza”. The Fusion Fashion Show was meant to blend unique, unusual and edgy styles that were designed by the S4 students. The show started at 7pm and ended when the fashion madness did.Three minutes before the show began, we could sense the pressure boiling up within our bodies. Palms were already warm and sweaty and we could feel the earthquake quietly erupting inside our stomachs. The curtains opened, and it was time to show off all our hard work and dedication. By the end of the evening, we felt we had put on a great show which took a lot of hard work and commitment. We had practiced twice a week for three to four hours a session; there were hiccups along the way and some of our peers had to take on the additional roles of getting props together and making sure everything was intact. We knew we had to make sure the show was successful because this was one of our main fundraisers for our S4 prom and not only that, as class of 2012, we wanted to make a statement that “We are #1”. I also wanted to say, “As a S4 body and class of 2012, we are very creative and independent and we know how to work together.”From doing this fashion show, I feel that it has helped me be more social with my peers, and I am proud of the fact that I personally showed people of plus sizes that we can do whatever we put our minds to, no matter what shape or size we might be.My favourite scene was the very last one because we were all on stage together, and there I felt that we could really release our energy and excitement from the whole show. Overall, I would like to commend my classmates because even though we have our differences, we were able to come together to create a fabulous show that we can all be proud of. On behalf of the S4 family, I would like to thank our community for coming out and supporting us because without you, the show would have never been so successful.
