BIOS will be holding its annual open house, Marine Science Day (MSD), on September 21, 2013. Leading up to the event BIOS is hosting an art contest for students to design a poster for MSD promotional materials. The theme for the contest is “Picturing a Healthy Ocean” and entries should include references to the ocean and/or local Bermuda marine organisms.All entries will be displayed during Marine Science Day and again during the 2013/2014 BIOS Explorer programme, which is attended by more than 2500 students and teachers from around the Island. Winners will be chosen in each of three categories — primary, middle, and senior — and an overall winner (best of show) will also be selected. The best in show design will be featured in a variety of places including: on MSD tee-shirts, on the BIOS website, in the BIOS monthly e — newsletter Currents, and in the lobby of BIOS where it will be seen by visiting scientists, students, and tourists.Submissions are due by July 26.
