Season’s Learning Centre’s auction maintains its ‘arts and academics go hand in hand philosophy
On Monday night Season’s Learning Centre hosted an Auction. The theme was Out of Africa.
The Head Teacher Joelle Williams explained to us: “every year we do an art collection … each child has to complete four pieces for the auction.”
The school students range from one to five years of age. There are currently sixty children enrolled.
The Season’s Learning Centre mission takes a new approach to learning, exploring education through the arts.
Ms Williams told us “arts and academics go hand in hand”.
The school has been in existence for nine years. In addition to the Annual Art Auction the school also hosts two productions each year.
Ms Williams explained that the children enjoy memorising their lines. The productions are hosted at City Hall.
The auctioneer, Craig Tyrell, said: “I have been connected to this event for a number of years.
“I am the Auctioneer. It’s a lot of fun and the artwork is actually quite good. I have actually auctioned off a piece in the past for more than $200!
“It’s a great fundraiser for the school and also a great artistic expression on behalf of the kids.”
Anaya Williams (pictured with her artwork) said: “I liked all the colours and painting. I think the animals in Africa are beautiful. I love zebras.”
