Serving up a healthy start to the day
Dora Baker and Charles and Ricky Pitcher, on behalf of St David’s Seventh-day Adventist Church, have been serving breakfast to the students of Clearwater Middle School every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for the past two years.
They provide healthy breakfast items such as pancakes, eggs, bananas, Quaker oats and apple juice.
With approximately 125 children at the school, this is not a small feat.
Ricky Pitcher said: “I get enjoyment from seeing the children eat a healthy breakfast.”
Charles Pitcher added: “I was a missionary overseas and for me that means I have to do it at home, too. When there is a need is where we must serve.”
As well as the breakfast programme, the St David’s Seventh-day Adventist Church also hosts a community supper every Wednesday night between 6.15pm and 7.15pm at the church.
The menu, similar to the school breakfasts, is healthy and varies from week to week.
Ricky Pitcher said the programme relied on donations. Please call 293-5747 for more information.
