A scary, scary day at Bermuda High School
Hallowe’en came “frightfully” early to our school this year! When teachers, parents and children arrived at school last Friday morning they were met with such scary music that some of them were almost afraid to get out of their cars!
We were all dressed in halloween costumes, many with witch’s hats and other halloween accessories such as hair-ties with little sparkly pumpkins protruding from them.
And our music was scary as well, with all the pieces in minor keys. We played The Scary Graveyard, Did I See A Witch Last Night, The Dead of Night and Halloween Howl. We also performed Hedwig’s Theme and our music teacher Dr Tully was all dressed up as Harry Potter as he accompanied us with terrifying organ music in the background!
We had flutes, clarinets, violins, saxophones and violas, all combining to make the music eerie and creepy!
We have also had individual and small group performances of our halloween music in many classes this week, from primary through secondary and many classes were decorated for this “frightful” experience!
Our parents were so impressed by this “terrifying” experience that they provided us with a special pizza lunch before we went home for mid-term.
After mid-term we will start preparing for our Annual Christmas Concert at school as well as our performance in St Peter’s Church, St George during the National Trust Walkabout in December.
Music is fun at Bermuda High School for Girls — but it’s scary as well!
