Faith, family and learning

Feast of St Agnes - Bishop Wes, C.R., high-fives a student after Mass celebrating the Feast of St Agnes, MSA’s patron saint

MSA has done a lot to help me with my faith and education. Everyone at school is like my family. They have helped me with my faith because every year we have a Religion class (MSA is a Roman Catholic School). In Religion we learn about the Sacraments, and about the Gospel writers. We learn about many saints and important days of the year. We have School Mass for the Feast Day of Saint Agnes (our patron saint) and other important dates like the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and Ash Wednesday.

MSA is like a family to me because everyone is so caring. New students always find friends quickly, everyone fits in. At lunch, sometimes there are clubs to go to but if not we eat together in the lunchroom. There is a four square where some kids play, while others play American football or basketball. The teachers are very loving and help you when you need it. They are always looking out for students. Every recess and lunch period there is a teacher on duty in case someone gets into trouble or gets hurt.

MSA’s education is great. We use the Alberta Curriculum and have a variety of subjects. We have eight subjects a day in middle school, plus teacher advisory twice a week. There are two semesters each year and we are awarded for good grades, being good citizens, and sports achievements. The five main or core subjects are: Science, Math, English, Social Studies and Religion. If you are at the top of your class in middle school or high school, you can get special awards or scholarships. I feel like MSA is preparing me for the future, not only because of the good education it gives, but because of the care and love around me.
