Unforgettable experience for students

On Thursday, February 23, CedarBridge Academy held their annual “100 Men and Women on Campus Day”.

The students were exposed to a variety of speakers, workshops and performances by fellow students as well as guests.

The young women of CBA wore all black business attire with a “statement” shoe.

The female student body listened to Dr Gina Spence, she gave a vibrant motivational speech and a dance performance followed by a special assembly which included a talk with Bermuda’s Deputy Governor, Ginny Ferson.

Mrs Ferson shared with the students what her role is as Deputy Governor and how she became such an esteemed female in her work area.

In addition, Mrs Partina O’Connor-Paynter spoke with the young women of excellence about several topics including keeping high standards and values as a young lady. To finish the assembly, four “Phenomenal Student of Excellence” winners from each year level, were presented with awards. The recipients were: Maya Jones, Dejanae Iris, Israel Bennett, and yours truly, Storm Gibbons.

The day’s events included workshops to teach the female students about etiquette, career choices, and finance.

The workshops were held in small groups so students were able to ask questions, have important conversations with teachers/presenters and get the chance to go in depth on the topic at hand.

Things such as basic etiquette are important for a young person to possess, so having these sessions with teachers was very beneficial to many young women. To wrap up the eventful day, a fashion show was hosted with all of the teachers and students wearing business attire. It provided an amazing opportunity for the student body to dress professionally as they would at a job interview or in a workplace.

It also gave others good examples of proper professional apparel.

The “100 Men and Women on Campus” day has provided a great experience for all of the students.
