Bermuda National gallery hosts series of family events

Students from different schools across the island make up The Bermuda National Gallery Youth Arts Council. They meet weekly during term time

Bermuda National Gallery is hosting a series of family events this month.

It aims to bring families together through creative expression and art-making.

Here are some of the family events you can enjoy starting this weekend:

Family photo

Bermuda National Gallery in partnership with MAETOG Photography will be gifting to the community free professional holiday family photoshoots tomorrow. Families must register in advance and there are limited slots available.

Family Tea Time

On Tuesday, the National Gallery is hosting “Family Tea Time”. It is inviting parents, grandparents and family members with children to join them for Family Tea Time & Art at the Gallery. The event is free for all children and $10 for adults; families must register in advance. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Family Movie Day

The BNG Youth Arts Council is an art and leadership programme for students aged 13 to 17.

The Youth Arts Council meets weekly to produce cultural art activities relevant to the concerns of teens today.

Next Friday, December 21, at 2pm, it is inviting the public to join it for a Family Movie Day screening of the film Contact and Biennial Artist Talk with Michael Walsh.

Contact, rated PG, is a 1997 movie about humanity’s first interaction with extraterrestrial life forms.

Before the screening, Mr Walsh will discuss how the film informed his Biennial artwork Arriving at Nothing.

Admission is $10 per person (includes admission, crisps, drinks and snacks).
